Florence E. Harrett of Elkhart, Indiana passed from this world at the age of 96 on Easter Sunday April 12, 2020.
Florence Harrett is preceded in death by her parents, Edgar W. Fox and Janet (McKay) Fox of Kewadin Michigan and her late husband, Ernest Harrett. In addition, Florence is preceded in death by her siblings: Malcolm Fox, Winnifred Fox, Arthur Fox, Ernest Fox, and Fern Dahlgren.
Florence Harrett grew up in Antrim County in northern Michigan. She attended the First Methodist church in Elkhart, IN. Florence retired from her nursing career in which she trained to care and love newborn and prematurely born babies at both Beaumont Hospital of Detroit, Michigan and Bronson Methodist Hospital of Kalamazoo, Michigan.
Florence loved to fish and especially loved her trout. She liked to travel, sing in her choir, listen to music, play a little piano, enjoy nature’s beauty (butterflies, birds, and flowers in particular), work crossword puzzles, and put together jigsaw puzzles. She was also a huge fan of the Detroit Tigers and followed all their games by radio. In addition, she was an enthusiastic Scrabble game player and morel mushroom hunter!
Florence Harrett is survived by her oldest and only living sibling, Janet Lowell of Edwardsburg, Michigan, and several nieces and nephews scattered across several states. Fond and happy memories will be held of Florence Harrett by her closest relatives and friends.
