Florence (Kraszewski) Dygus, R.N. of Westbrook died on Tuesday, April 23, 2014 at Middlesex Hospital. She was the beloved wife of the late Alexander R. Dygus. Born in New Britain, daughter of the late Walter and Martha (Szembek) Kraszewski, she attended local schools and lived in New Britain most of her life, moving to Westbrook in 1976. Mrs. Dygus graduated, with honors, from St. Francis Hospital School of Nursing in 1938, as a Registered Nurse. During her career, she worked in various nursing departments at St. Francis Hospital and New Britain General Hospital and was Supervisor of the Surgical and Maternity floors. Her love of nursing was always in her heart and she cherished it to the fullest. In her earlier years, she loved sports and excelled in tennis, basketball and golf. Florence was a member of Holy Cross Church, St. Mark, the Evangelist Church, Westbrook, St. Francis Hospital School of Nursing Alumni Assoc. and the Grove Beach Terrace Assoc. A loving and devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother, she leaves her beloved daughters Marcia Jones and her husband Tom of New Britain, Carol Loveland and her husband Gary of Westbrook, five grandchildren Jonathan Jones and his fiancé Suzi Reno of West Hartford, Ryan Jones and his wife Kelleanne of Wethersfield, their children, Zoe, Kobe, Trae and Ayla, Lindsay Jones and daughter Calli, Lori Desjardins and her husband Christopher of Southington, Jennifer Griffin and her husband Gary and their daughters Rylan and Reese of Simsbury and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased her brother Dr. Henry Kraszewski and his wife Frances, R.N., their son Donald and daughter Marcia Kovack, her brother Casimer P. Kras and his son Gerald.
