Florence Dolores Kamus, 85, of Cocoa, FL, passed away peacefully with her family present on Thursday, March 2, 2017, at the Wuesthoff Hospice House in Rockledge.
Florence came to Cocoa in 1960 with her husband Adam and the first three of her five children. She was a wife and mom, and in 1965 became a school crossing guard with the Brevard County Sheriff’s office. Her first assignment was crossing children across US 1 in Sharpes for Fairglen Elementary School, and her subsequent assignments were at Clearlake Rd and Rosentine and Tate Streets for Cambridge Elementary School and Range Rd at Saturn Elementary School in Cocoa. She retired in 2002 from Brevard County Fire Rescue.
She is survived by her children Tony of Lady Lake, Darlene (David) Kellogg of Ocoee, John (Frederique) of Simi Valley, CA, Laurie (Charles) Merrick of Allen, TX, and Paul (Kathy) Kamus of Cocoa, brother Jackie, Edwardsville, PA, 12 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild.
