Fernonda (Florence) “Flo” Montanaro, 97, of Silver Sands Road, East Haven, formerly of Oakley St., New Haven passed away at home on April 24, 2012, surrounded by her loving family. She was the widow of Alfonso “Al” Montanaro. She was born in Paterson, N.J. on March 23, 1915, daughter of the late Antonio and Rose Giordano Masserelli. She was a member of the Jolly Time Seniors and St. Anne’s Pilgrim Society. She was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox and UConn Women’s Basketball. She is survived by one son, Ronald L. Montanaro and one daughter, Louise Montanaro, both of East Haven; two brothers, Fred Masserelli of West Haven and Francis (Frank) Masserelli of New Haven; two sisters, Sue (Lawrence) Fitzgerald of East Haven and Ann Barone of West Haven. She was predeceased by three brothers, Anthony (Bucky), Henry & Louis Masserelli and two sisters, Mary Accadia and Bessie Rapuano. Special thanks are due the Masonic Home Healthcare and Hospice nurses, as well as her home health aids, Vernel Howard & Patty Marshall.
