Fernando N. Salcido – Walked through life as Husband, Father, Grandfather, Brother, Friend, Educator and Mentor.
Fernando was born in Fierro, New Mexico on July 28, 1929 to Ramon and Paula Salcido. He attended school in Fierro, Hurley and Silver City, New Mexico; earning his Masters in Education from New Mexico Western University in 1956, after serving four years in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict.
Mr. Salcido resided in Tombstone for over 55 years. He served on the Tombstone Volunteer Fire Department for 25 years and his career as a Master Educator spanned from 1956-1993, but his life as a mentor continued till his last breath.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Anna Salcido; his daughters, Margaret Anne and Mary Alice; his grandchildren, Toni Savoie, Mia and Ellisa Brown, Anna Rub, Alex Peters, Andrea and Dylan Salcido; his great-grandson, Hayes Savoie; and countless students whom he taught English, Spanish and Life’s Lessons. He is also survived by sisters Antonia Elias, Juanita Salcido, Soledad Rodriguez, and Teresa Salcido. He was preceded to heaven by his children Richard, John Anthony, and Theresa Marie; his parents; his brother, Manuel Salcido; and sister, Carmen Morales.
