Fernando “Chino” Melé²n, 85

In the loving arms of our God, our beloved father and grandfather Fernando “Chino” Melé²n will always be remembered in our hearts and our prayers.

On Monday, March 22, 2010, surrounded by his loving family, Chino, 84, of Alamogordo, passed away at Gerald Champion Regional Medical Center. He was born March 29, 1925, in Alamogordo, New Mexico to Cornelio and Maria Melon. He united in marriage to Helen Torres on August 15, 1948, in Alamogordo.

Chino served as a Seabee during WWII in the United States Navy in the Pacific Campaign. Chino was recruited for his civilian construction skills that were placed within the Navy’s Civilian Engineering Corps.

After the War, Chino returned to Alamogordo to take a job as a carpenter at Holloman Air Force Base where he spent a good majority of his career supporting his loving family until he retired.
