Fernand Couture was born March 7, 1945 in Manchester, New Hampshire. Fern moved to Fairfield, CT when he was a boy where he attended St. Thomas Elementary and Ludlow High School. Fern grew up playing baseball and played Connie Mack League but passed up an opportunity to play “A” ball for the Yankees due to family obligations. Fern loved bowling and was a marathon runner. Fern retired from the Stamford Advocate at the age of sixty five and soon after was diagnosed with Parkinson’s. Fern lost his battle to Parkinson’s in the company of family, peacefully, in home hospice on March 25th 2017. Fern is survived by his sisters: Annette Couture Bisceglia, Jeannine Couture Garlock, Therese Couture Toth and his children Michele Couture Anderson, her husband Bruce, Michael Couture, Christopher Couture, his wife Amy, Father Jeffrey Couture (The Diocese of Bridgeport), and Fern’s grandchildren Melissa, Christopher, C.J, and Lexi.
