Salem WV Fern Elsey Jamison, 103, formerly of Aurora, WV passed away Thursday, June 3, 2010 at the Heritage Nursing Home in Bridgeport, WV. She was born October 28, 1906 in Clarksburg, WV, the daughter of the late Rutherford Birchard Elsey and Mattie Spencer McCutchan Elsey. Mrs. Jamison was a school teacher in Preston County for many years and was married to Dr. William Parks Jamison who practiced medicine in Aurora and Rowlesburg. He preceded her in death in 1959 as well as their son William ( Jim) Jamison, a brother Harry Elsey and a sister Betty Elsey Hennigan. She is survived by her brother, John Elsey and wife June of Maplewood in Bridgeport, several neices and nephews, and many friends. Fern was a very intelligent and refined lady who loved people and had many interests. She was able to live in her own home until recent years and loved to read and share her books with others, wrote wonderful letters and notes to her many friends, liked to dine out, and enjoyed life. She celebrated her 100th birthday at the Aurora Methodist Church where she was a member. According to her wishes, the body was cremated.
