Fern Davis

1923 – 2014

Nellie Fern Northrop Davis, 90, died on Sunday, June 8th, 2014 from natural causes. Fern was born Sept. 15th 1923 to Benjamin and Nellie Northrop in Missouri Valley, Iowa.  She grew up with her brothers Carol, Roy and Merlin and sisters Gladys, Sylvia and Sharon.

Her dad, Ben, was a day worker and her mom, a homemaker. They moved around a lot and at one time lived in a homemade house on the back of a truck.

As a young adult, she worked in the shipyards during the war.

Fern met her husband, Bud Davis and married in Caldwell in 1947.

They lived in Nampa to start but then they moved to Boise which was also closer to Buds work place.

Their children are; Bob, Jim, Jeanette, and Carl and they also have 2 grandsons, 3 granddaughters and 4 great- grandchildren.

Fern’s interests included, gardening, especially her beautiful roses. She loved life, hated getting old and adored animals. She loved creating home projects; a planter, fireplace front, and refaced her cupboards, etc.

Fern also stood up for political issues and dearly love the American flag and her country.

Her joy and spirit were not diminished by her physical limitations. Fern was the glue that kept the family together.
