Fern A. “Cookie” Carey, passed away peacefully on Monday 15, 2019, at her residence in Brighton, Colorado. She was born June 11, 1942, in rural Colorado, to George Edward and Amelia (Ritter) Pittington. Fern married Noel “Bud” Carey on February 2, 1964 in Greeley, and they remained married to one another for next 55 years.
Fern was a humble, hardworking woman and a loving mother and grandmother. For work she operated a day care which was known by many to be the best in Brighton at the time. She was very artistic and loved to make pottery and always enjoyed to draw or paint. Fern also boasted noble cooking skills, where she specifically specialized in making pies and bread for her loved ones.
Fern is survived by; her husband “Bud” of Brighton, CO, an only daughter Shawna Marie Carey, and four grandchildren, Joey, Jackson, Samantha and Jameson Simmons of Castle Rock, CO. She is preceded in death by her mother and father George Edward and Amelia (Ritter) Pittington, along with her sister Hazel Wollert.
