Fayrene Dietert Smout, 90, wife of Jay C. Smout, died October 22, 2022 in Chesapeake, Virginia. She was born April 12, 1932 in Kerrville, Texas, daughter of Eleanora and Alexander Dietert.
Fayrene and Jay met in the Navy, where she outranked him when they were married November 7, 1955, in Corona, CA. She is survived by son Robert J. (Eileen) Smout of Arlington, VA and daughter Rhana (Paul) Paris of Kill Devil Hills, NC; three grandchildren Jacob, Shelby and Juli; sister-in-law Shirley Smout, Marriott/Slaterville; brothers-in-law Curtis Smout of Riverdale, and James (Vicki) Smout of Scottsdale, AZ. Fayrene will be buried in Arlington National Cemetery next to her husband Jay.
