Faye Whitfield was born in Duplin County to the late Johnnie Edward and Eva Price Wiggins, one of 10 children. A 1956 graduate of the first graduating class of North Duplin High School, she was employed for 33 ½ years with Burlington Industries in Mount Olive. A faithful loving servant of Jesus Christ at Emmaus Baptist Church for over 40 years, Faye used her talent singing in the church choir, chairing many committees including the Emmaus Wayne County Agricultural Fair Booth and the church kitchen committee. She started the Emmaus Memorial Christmas Tree, served on the Pastor Search Committee, participated in the American Heart Association Heart Walk at Mount Olive Pickle Company, and initiated the Johnny Sasser Sunday School Class Thanksgiving fruit basket ministry for the sick and home-bound.
