Faye Rabb Hallock, 82, a long-time Deming resident passed away Sunday, October 9, 2011, at Mountain View Hospital, Las Cruces, New Mexico.

Faye was born October 17, 1928, in Central, New Mexico, now Santa Clara, to Allie Parson Rabb and Thomas Branch Rabb. She graduated with the Deming High Class of 1946 and received a Bachelor of S?? degree in Elementary Education in 1950 from NM Teacher’s College, later to become Western New Mexico University. She was a member of the college chorus, Delta Sigma Epsilon sorority, and secretary of the Student Body.

Faye wed Almon Joesph Hallock in ??? At??? Joe passed away January 27, 1996, after ??? years of marriage.

Faye taught her first year in Hachita, NM, one semester in Lovington, NM, and one year at White Signal, a one-room school near Silver City. She was an elementary teacher for 27 years in Chula Vista, CA, a suburb on San Diego.

While living in California, Faye was a member of the United Church of Christ, Paradise Hills, San Diego. After she and Joe retired to Deming she was a member of the First Christian Church, member and historian with Friends of the Library, and Reading Is Fundamental (RIF) coordinator for three years.

Faye and Joe enjoyed working with the National Weather Service for a combined service of over 20 years. Faye took over the Station after Joe’s death and received a 10 Year Service award in June, 1997.

Faye was a descendant of the Rabb family who settled in the beautiful hill country of Fayette County, now Rabb’s Prairie, Texas, in the 1820s along with Stephen Austin and his “Old 300”, which is well-known in Texas history. The Rabb family was very active in Texas politics.

Faye was preceded in death by her parents, an infant son Almon Joseph Hallock III, sister Jorene Harrington, brother Richard Rabb, and her husband Joe.

She is survived by one daughter, Lora Arellano, Deming; her grandson Phillip Perez, wife Heather, and two great-granddaughters, Daniann and Lilyann, Anchorage, AK; and grandson Anthony Perez and wife Emily, San Diego, CA.
