Dora Faye Halferty

Dora Faye Halferty was born July 30, 1920 to Elmer and Alyce

(Burrell) Frye, in rural Wayne County. She passed away November 22, 2013, at the Lucas County Hospital.

Faye attended country grade school in Wayne County and graduated from high school in Cambria, Iowa.

After high school, Faye married Lloyd Throckmorton. They made their home in the rural Derby area. From this union, three children were born: Garry, Sharon and Dennis Lee. Faye raised her children and after 34 years, the marriage dissolved.

On February 14, 1972, she married Ralph J. Halferty of rural Derby.

Preceding her in death was her husband, Ralph; her parents, Elmer and Alyce Frye; brothers, Fred, Ivan, Clyde, Gail, Jack, and Edwin Laverne; her sisters, Pearl, Velma, Nina, Edith, Lorene, Donna and Margie. Also preceding her in death was her son, Dennis and his wife, Roxanne, step son, Jim Halferty and son in law, Leonard Sheets; her sister in laws, brothers in law, some nieces and nephews.

Left to remember Faye, is one sister, Caryl Street of Corydon; son Garry Throckmorton and wife Janet of rural Chariton, daughter, Sharon Sheets of Corydon, step daughter in law, Cathy Halferty of Clearlake, Iowa; 13 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and 6 great great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and friends.

Faye spent a lifetime of serving others. She always had a smile that was cherished by those around her. She was adored by her family and she will be deeply missed.
