Fay Dawson (nee Garner)
Smart, sweet and tough as nails (if she needed to be). Fay was born in the Lakewood area of Dallas in 1925 to Lillian Bell Mann Garner and George Benjamin Garner, sr. Her earliest childhood years, during the depression, were spent on her grandparent’s farm in AK, before relocating back to Dallas when she was 8 years old.

In her early 20’s she worked in the fine jewelry department at Neiman Marcus, where she met Dick (the love of her life). Together they lived a life full of adventure. As a couple (and they were always seen together) they traveled in their airstream to all 48 contiguous States. She was also an avid sailor and became a qualified celestial navigator.

Fay loved all animals (dogs in particular) and never met one she didn’t like. She also loved nature and couldn’t bear the thought of cutting down a tree. She was a keen reader, student of history, and a proud lifetime member of the Highland Park Chapter of the DAR.

Fay died peacefully in her home on Monday, October 25th. She lived and died on her own terms, and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
