Faunce Ashcraft, age 91, of Center Point passed away of natural causes in his home on Wednesday, October 12, 2011. He was born July 25, 1920 on Frank’s Run, Doddridge County, the son of Ira and Iva Ice Ashcraft. He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Florence Katherine Talerico in 1975 and son, Alan.J. Ashcraft in 1999.
Also predeceasing him were three brothers; Paul, Vance,and Ronald, as well as three sisters, Lillian Robinson, Sarah Adams, and Emagene Costilow
He is survived by his daughter, Gloria Ashcraft of Pittsburgh and many nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.
Faunce served in the Army Air Corp during WWII stationed on the Aleutican Islands. He worked for Columbia Gas from which he retired in 1985. Those who knew and loved him always found Faunce to be fair and have a delightful; and ornery sense of humor. He loved hunting and fishing, especially his yearly fishing trips to Canada with his close friends, Ron and Vicki. His dog, Lady, was his constant companion who was with him until the end.
The greatest gift Faunce gave to all those around him was his ever-present optimism and joy of life.
