Faith Monique Smith was born on October 23, 1969 to Howard W. Smith, Jr. and Vera Smith.
She was educated in the Public Schools of the District of Columbia and graduated from the Benjamin Banneker Academic High School.
Faith began her collegiate studies at Allegheny College in Meadville, Pennsylvania and earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology. She did further graduate studies at the University of Vermont.
Faith was employed by the United States Federal Government and served as a paralegal in the Department of Justice and the Environmental Protection Agency.
Faith joined and was baptized at the Emmanuel Baptist Church in March 1979 at the age of 10. She was a Girl Scout, an usher, and sang in the Youth Choir.
In 2006 Faith suffered a debilitating illness. For 14 years she was confined to a nursing facility for skilled care. She always said to her mother, this battle was not hers but the Lord’s. Faith was blessed to have the loving care of her mother, her brother and sisters by her side.
Faith is survived by her mother, Vera Smith; father, Howard W. Smith, Jr.; brother, Howard W. Smith, III; sisters, Danielle and Paula Smith; step-brother, Brandon Smith; nephews, other relatives and friends.
