F. Margaret Schollar

F. Margaret Schollar, 86, of Rowlesburg, died Tuesday, November 14, 2016, at home with family by her side.

Margaret was born June 1, 1930, a daughter of the late John W. and Beulah Bookin Felton.

She was a loving mother, grandmother and sister. She served in the women’s Army Corps., where she met her husband and was a housewife for the next 10 years. After the passing of her husband she worked and raised her children and over time became involved in many activities for the good of the community, the county and her family. She retired as the postmaster of Rowlesburg Post office, a fifty year plus member of the Christ United Methodist Church, where she served as a lay speaker and charge lay leader. She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, a life member of the American Foreign Legion, two term Mayor of Rowlesburg, the first term encompassed the devastating flood of November, 1985, she served on the Preston County Economic Development Authority, she was a driver of the DAV van taking disabled veterans to their doctor appointments at the Clarksburg VA and occasionally to Pittsburgh VA hospitals.
