Ezra “Jr.” Odell Hesson Jr., age 63, of Rensselaer passed away Wednesday, November 11, 2020, at home surrounded by family.
Jr. was born on May 23, 1957 in Huntington, West Virginia to Ezra and Willadean “Bunny” (Perry) Hesson. Jr. attended Rensselaer Central High School. He was retired from the Laborer’s Union Local 41, where he was employed for over 25 years. Jr. also formerly worked with Herman “Les” Latta. Jr. was a huge fan of Nascar and dirt track racing. He also enjoyed watching the NFL on any given Sunday. His other interests included tending to his vegetable garden, at which he was very skilled. He was also considered a master griller among his friends and family and he enjoyed preparing a variety of meat entrees for everyone to sample. Jr. was happiest just tinkering and visiting with friends and family in his garage. He was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose, Lodge #2272 and the American Legion Post #29. Jr. was also affiliated with the Baptist Church.
Jr. is survived by a son, Kyle (Jamie) Hesson of Rensselaer, Indiana; grandchildren, Kiren, Kelsey, and Kelton Hesson; four sisters and two brothers, Debbie (David) Cotner, Rick (April) Hesson, Donna (Raymond) Wright, Rhonda (Tom) Chambers, Kevin (Sonya) Hesson, Karen Hesson, brother-in-law, Johnny Gilbert, and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Jr. was preceded in death by his parents, Ezra and Willadean “Bunny” Hesson, and his loving sister, Vickie Gilbert.
