Ezekiel “E.P.” “Tom” Jenkins, 82, Anderson, passed away May 17, 2012 at his residence after an extended illness.
He was born September 12, 1929 in Hawkins County, Tennessee to Ballard and Mary Alice Thacker Jenkins. Ezekiel is preceded in death by his first wife, Margie Ella Sue Slemp Jenkins who passed away in 1989; and second wife, Dorothy Johnson Jenkins who passed away in 2011. Also precededing him in death and daughter, Donna Whitehead; granddaughter, Suzie Turner Banta; great granddaughter, Nevaeh Jenkins; four sisters, Lula Bradshaw, Martha Cline, Lila Mae Jenkins and Bessie Harris; and five brothers, Carter, Curtis, Coye, Hasco, and Buddy. A Korean War veteran from 1951-1953, Ezekiel worked in building maintenance at Delco Remy Division of General Motors for 38 years before retiring in 1993. He was a member of Valley Grove Free Will Baptist Church.
He is survived by his children, Debbie Turner of Elizbethton, Tennessee, Sandy Jim Alexander, Kim Dean Parris and David Jenkins, all of Anderson; grandchildren, Lisa Chismar, Ron Ronna Keffer III, Rob Jackie Alexander, Andy Alexander, Rachel Alexander, and Michelle Toby Sheets of Anderson, Gary Turner of Elizbethton, Tennessee, Jim Carol Alexander III of The Colony, Texas, Nichole Joe Marshall of Summitville, Brad Sheila Bever of Monticello, Kentucky, Curtis Jenkins of the Army in Afghanistan, Amanda Jenkins of Georgia, Thomas Jenkins AIC of the Air Force in North Dakota, and David Jenkins “DJ” of Monticello, Kentucky; twenty three great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
