WALLINGFORD – Everett S. James, 88, of Wallingford, beloved husband of the late Frances I. James, departed this life on Saturday, July 28, 2012 at the Connecticut Hospice of Branford.
Everett was born on July 13, 1924 in Wallingford, son of the late Albert and Elsie (Mitchell) James. He was a veteran of the United States Navy having served during World War II. He served on a LCT on D Day as a cook/ gunner. He also served in the Pacific theater as a chief Commissary Steward on a LST. He retired after 40+ years of employment with Allegany Ludlum Steel as the Foreman of the Rolling Mill. Everett also was known as local wedding photographer. He was an avid fisherman, gardener, and in his younger years he and his family raised poultry. He will be remembered as a man who was always ready to lend a helping hand as “Mr. Fixit” to anyone in need.
He will be sadly missed by his daughters: Sandra Scinto of Kansas City, MO, and Deborah James of Stratford. He also leaves his Nephews: Robert and James Harrington of Wallingford and his nieces: Carol Stanford of Guilford and Nancy Bovich, of Clinton in addition to his grandchildren: Corey Scinto of Kansas City, MO and Brenda Pierce of Elwood, IN. along with numerous great grandchildren. He also leaves a longtime friend Bronis James of Kansas City, MO. He is preceded in death by a daughter Linda Little, a sister, Doris Harrington and Robert Harrington Sr, and a granddaughter Michelle Connelly.
