Everett Bud Friestad, 77, of rural Ottawa, passed away Wednesday morning, August 17, 2011, at his home surrounded by his family. Bud was born November 4, 1933 in Ottawa to Martin and Clara (Thorsen) Friestad. He graduated from Ottawa Township High School in 1951.
He married Mary Lou Calkins on August 15, 1953, in Bethel Lutheran Brethren Church in Ottawa. He was a life-long farmer in Wallace Township. He is survived by his wife, Mary Lou; two children, Cindy (Rob) Neff of Plano, Texas and Randy (Jamie White) Friestad of Ottawa; nine grandchildren, Jason (Megan) Friestad, Josh (Mallary) Friestad, Jenny (Tim Peters) Friestad, Jeremy (Gayle) Johnson, Ashley (Mike) Cheatham, Justin (Heidi Cavanaugh) Johnson, Bryan, Eric and Thomas Neff; five great-grandchildren, Faith Friestad, Bregan Cheatham, Katelyn Friestad, Jett Johnson and Logan Cheatham; two brothers, Robert (Sharon) Friestad of Lisbon and Dale (Florence) Friestad of McAlister, OK ; three sisters, Lois Bounds of Morris, Doris Jones of Tyler, TX and Darlene (George) Johnson of Ottawa. He was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter, Diane Johnson and one sister Fern Dippel.
