Went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday September 30, 2017. Evelyn was born on November 18, 1921 in Kalamazoo, the daughter of Albert and Winifred (Klop) VanNus.
She was a dedicated volunteer in her church (Greenwood Reformed); her children’s schools and various community activities. She worked part time as a library aid in the Kalamazoo Public Schools. Evelyn was united in marriage to Edward C. Ritsema on March 1, 1941 and was blessed with 65 years together. Family, her church, bridge, golf and traveling with Ed were some of her passions.
Surviving are her 4 children, Paul Ritsema, Karen (Guy) Webster, Ron (Sheila) Ritsema and Mary (Tim) Molnar; 9 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; a sister-in-law Virginia Ritsema and Phyllis Nuyen her best friend since childhood.
