Evelyn Trimmier Burke, 99, of Jacksonville died Monday, December 15, 2008, at Jacksonville Convalescent Center.
She was born Jan. 7, 1909, in Memphis, TN., the daughter of Charles Thomas and Mary Hargrove Trimmier. She married Arnold W. Burke on Jan. 27, 1927, in Ft. Worth, TX., and he preceded her in death on Aug. 17, 1992.
She is survived by one grandson, Stephen Dwight (wife, Leah Dawn) Burke of Portales, N.M.; one granddaughter, Ellen Elizabeth Curry of Lubbock, TX.; and two great-grandchildren, Aidan Jess and Kayla Mae Curry of Lubbock, TX. She was preceded in death by her son, Arnold William Burke, Jr.
Mrs. Burke was a member of Grace United Methodist Church. She was also a member of Jacksonville Women Club, Morgan County Garden Club and South Jacksonville Home Extension. She was a homemaker. She loved her family, her home, her friends, all animals, her flowers and the beauty of the earth. She extends her love to all and her wishes for peace for all mankind.
