Evelyn R. Greer Evelyn Rose Greer, 94, of Danbury, wife of the late Jerome Greer and mother of Iris Gilligan and Gary Greer, died on Sunday, March 20, 2014, at Maplewood at Danbury. Mrs. Greer, daughter of Louis and Ida (Katzenbogen) Siegel, was born in Little Rock, Arkansas, January 23, 1920. She attended Little Rock public schools and the University of Illinois. She held a variety of sales positions and was, most recently, a retired telemarketer. Mrs. Greer moved to New York City in 1939 to study dance and stayed in the New York area for the rest of her life. An avid sports fan, she was particularly passionate about the Mets, Giants and Knicks. A resident of Danbury for the past four years coming from the Edgemont area of New York, she was a member of Congregation of Emanu-El of Westchester. Mrs. Greer was devoted to her family and will be sorely missed. In addition to her daughter Iris, and son Gary, Mrs. Greer is survived by her son-in-law John Gilligan of Danbury, her daughter-in-law Sandy Greer of Chandler, Arizona, and three grandchildren, Emily Gilligan, Jerry Greer and Melissa (Greer) Brown, as well as their spouses and two great- grandchildren.
