Evelyn Payne Greenwood peacefully passed into the arms of the Lord on Wednesday, November 7, 2007. She was born in Lumpkin, Georgia and was the last surviving offspring of Merrill and Beulah Payne.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald B. Greenwood and grandson, Donald Bryce Greenwood.
Mama looked upon her children as her most precious assets and her greatest achievement. She is survived by her daughters and their spouses, Patricia and Joseph Oglesby, Shirley and Leslie Gabbard, Gloria and David Williams and her son, Kelly B. Greenwood.
She is also survived by her grandchildren and their spouses, Aubrey and Monica Clark, Heath and Connie Oglesby, Shane Oglesby, David and Shana Williams, Brian Williams, Amber and Kevin Ritter and Ginger and Pedro Ledezma. Also to her credit were great-grandchildren Haley, Taylor, and Wyatt Oglesby, Kara, Beau and Sean Clark, Brendan and Andrew Lloyd, Jordan and Landon Williams.
Mama was in every sense of the word, the Matriarch of our family. She was highly respected by us all and the one whom the family turned to for comfort. She will be loved and missed beyond belief, but she was tired and deserves her rest.
