Evelyn Marie Olson, daughter of Henry and Mary (Clarken) Svejda, was born July 11, 1928 near Pocahontas, Iowa. She passed away at her home Sunday morning, December 30, 2007 at the age of seventy-nine.
On November 25, 1946 Evelyn was united in marriage with Ralph Edward Olson. To this union five children were born: Randolph, who died in an auto accident March 23, 1968, Dianna, Daniel, Richard, and Edward.
Evelyn enjoyed being a homemaker, raising her children, entertaining her friends, baking cookies, and playing cards. She felt truly blessed having grandchildren and later great-grandchildren and enjoyed the time they spent with her.
She is survived by her four children: Dianna De Heus of Oskaloosa, Daniel and his wife Judy Olson of Zephyrhills, Florida, Richard and his wife Carol of Reasnor, Iowa, Edward Olson of Pella, Iowa; eleven grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren; and her dearest and closest friends, Delores Rus and Esther Goodyk.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph “Pinkie”; her son, Randy; her parents; three brothers: Ray, Hank, and Dennis Svejda; and one sister: Joan Gehrs.
Evelyn will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. The family would like to express a special thanks to Delores Rus for her love and assistance throughout the past years.
