Evelyn L. “Suze” Okuly, 85, Huntington, IN, died at (11:36 PM) Tuesday April 1, 2008 at Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne. Mrs. Okuly was born May 6, 1922 in Roanoke, IN to Otis and Hazel Chaney Orr. Her parents preceded her in death. Mrs. Okuly married Francis L. Okuly February 18, 1946 in Roanoke, Indiana. He survives in Huntington, IN Mrs Okuly was a 1940 graduate of Roanoke High School.
She was a member of SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church. She served as Chaplin of the VFW Auxiliary Post 2689, and was a member of Moose Lodge 837; served as a Girl Scout leader for many years; volunteered for Right to Life; tutored for SS. Peter and Paul School; and was an avid bingo player.
Survivors include: 4 Sons: Robert Okuly, Grand Rapids, MI; Thomas Okuly, Huntington; Mark Okuly, Andrews, IN; and Andrew Okuly, Huntington. 3 Daughters: Charlene Howard, Albuquerque, NM; Rhonda Thweatt, Huntington; and Laura Murphy, Huntington; 4 sisters: Esther Deitrich, Huntington, WV; Frances Kuzeff, Fort Wayne, IN; Lucille Garvison, Fort Wayne, IN, and Delores Pettit, New Haven, IN.; 29 Grandchildren; 31 Great-grandchildren, and 1 Great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by 4 brothers and 3 sisters.
