Evelyn Dickey, 81, of rural Montezuma, passed away September 1st at Union Hospital in Terre Haute. She was born March 5, 1934 to Tom and Rosemary Myrick. She married Allen Dickey in 1957.
She was a dedicated farm wife, mother, grandma, great-grandma, and big sister to Becky and Carolyn. After her husband, Allen, passed away, in 2002, she became the right hand of her sons’ farming operation, always taking their meals to the field and helping them move equipment around Parke County. She enjoyed all of her grandchildren’s activities. She was a sports fan of Riverton Parke basketball, volleyball, softball, and track, South Vermillion football, wrestling, baseball, and basketball, Terre Haute North swimming, track and cross country, and University of Evansville Women’s basketball. She also enjoyed the musical activities of her grandchildren-choir, orchestra, and Grant’s piano playing. Anything her grandchildren were involved in, “Nun Nun” was the biggest fan.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, Allen.
She is survived by her children, Lori Shew (Mark), Tim Dickey (Lori), and Michael Dickey (Angie); her sisters, Carolyn Rilenge and Becky Cooper; sister-in-law, Pat Dickey; grandchildren, Kristy Miller (Joe) Lauren Harmening (A.J.), Katie Shew, Chet Dickey, Seth Dickey, Grant Dickey, Elizabeth Dickey, Sara Dickey, and Caleb Dickey; a great-granddaughter, Zoey Harmening; and several nieces and nephews.
