Evelyn Meza Gomez, 68, was born on April 20, 1954, to the union of Antonio Sr. and Pilar Meza in Lordsburg, New Mexico. She departed from this life on Saturday, September 24, 2022, surrounded by her loved ones.
Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be recited on Saturday, October 8, 2022 at 10 o’clock in the morning led by Carlos Bejarano at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Lordsburg. A memorial mass will follow at 10:30 with the rite of commitment and inurnment to follow at Shakespeare Cemetery. Fr. Jude Okonkwo, Pastor will officiate.
Evelyn was a devoted Catholic and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She instilled her religion to her children and grandchildren. She was a 1972 graduate of Lordsburg High School. After graduation, she was a certified preschool teacher at La Escuelita for over 20 years. She enjoyed teaching her preschool students and enjoyed seeing her students’ progress through the years. It brought joy to her heart that she was the start to their success. She was a loving mom who showed great care and compassion towards her family.
Evelyn was hardworking and dedicated her life to being a wonderful mother. She was the foundation of our family through and through. She enjoyed dancing, singing, cooking, and baking most when she was surrounded by her grandchildren. Evelyn established unforgettable traditions that her family will carry on. She always had the best advice and knew the right things to say. She made every effort to be present at all our special occasions. Her home was always filled with warmth and kindness.
Preceding her in death are her parents, Antonio, and Pilar Meza; companion, Robert Rangel, and a brother, Antonio Meza Jr.
