Evelyn M. Schoener1923-2022Evelyn Marie, age 98, of Springfield, PA, passed away peacefully on March 21, 2022 at Fellowship Manner, located in Whitehall, PA. Evelyn Schoener was born on September 17, 1923 in Philadelphia to Charles and Anna Schoener. She grew up in Southwest Philadelphia with her seven siblings and attended John Bartram High School. In 1942, Evelyn began her career at General Electric in Southwest Philadelphia. She worked as a Switchgear Assembler and, because of her unique skills and craft, was chosen to work on classified projects in support of the war effort. She was recognized and awarded for her contributions and retired after forty years of service to the company.Evelyn had a passion for bowling. She was a member of the GE bowling league for over six decades and continued bowling in multiple leagues well into her nineties. She enjoyed traveling over the years, especially with her best friend Janet Lewis. Evelyn was a lifelong Eagles and Phillies fan and enjoyed cheering her teams on. She also enjoyed trips to the Casinos with family and friends. Evelyn was a devoted daughter, caring for her mother until she died. She loved her family, especially her nieces and nephews and was affectionately called “Auntie Bub”. Evelyn’s life was grounded in the Catholic Faith and was exemplified by her caring nature and generosity toward others. Evelyn is predeceased by her siblings Alice Lyster (Alexander), Rita Hess (John), Charles (Phyllis), Anna Lewis (William), Joseph (Anne), George,and her baby sister Theresa. She is survived by her sister-in-law Irene (the late George Schoener), countless nieces and nephews, many of whom are her Godchildren. Her loving, strong-willed personality, kindness and generous spirit will be missed by all.
