Lakeland – Evelyn Juanita Mills Holmes, 74, passed away Sunday, September 8, 2013 as a result of cancer.
She was born August 9, 1939 in Laurel Hill, FL to the late Charles and Gussie Posey Mills. Mrs. Holmes moved to Lakeland from Murphy, NC in 2012 after the loss of her husband.
Mrs. Holmes was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 52 years, Dewey W. Holmes, Sr.; brother, Gene Mills; and son in law, Sam Pace. She is survived by her son, Dewey Wendell (Carla) Holmes, Jr.; daughters, Melinda (Larry) Roddy and Gail Pace; brothers, Jim, Charles and Donnell Mills; 7 grandchildren; and 7 great grandchildren.
