Evelyn Josephine “Jo” Francis, of Eagletown/Noblesville, formerly of Albuquerque, NM, passed away at Riverwalk Nursing Home in Noblesville on September 15, 2017. She was born December 28, 1923, in Eagletown, IN, to the late Frank “Doc” and Mary Floy (Edwards) Gilpin.
Jo graduated from Westfield High School and was retired from Greyhound Bus Lines. She married Raymond “Pete” Francis in Mesa, AZ on April 30, 1980. In July 2017, Jo, full of spit and vinegar wanted to move back home so she would be near her remaining family so her nephew and niece went to Albuquerque to bring the still feisty Aunt Jo home.
Jo was a Past Worthy Matron and over 60-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 10 of Roswell, NM.
Jo is survived by her sister Jane (Bernard) Roudebush of Noblesville, and numerous nieces and nephews. Jo was preceded in death by her husband, Pete Francis and her siblings: Gene Gilpin, Lavon “Bus” Gilpin, James Gilpin, Elmer Paul “Sonny” Gilpin, Kathleen (Kate) Jones, Maxine (Mac) Davis, Avanelle “Belle” Castor, JoAnn Mayhew, and Betty Wilkinson as well as her parents.
