Davis, Evelyn Gertrude Kalamazoo Surrounded by her loving family, Evelyn went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at the age of 90 years young. Evelyn was born in South Haven on October 17, 1925, the daughter of the late Stewart B. Brinks and Bertha (Norden) Brinks, whose parents were Dutch immigrants from Holland.

She was a graduate of South Haven High School, and worked as an Office Manager at American Optical during her working years. Evelyn was a faithful Sunday School teacher and church member during her lifetime. She leaves a legacy of being a loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend, who exemplified the love of Christ to everyone she met. She was married to Howard Lavern Davis on February 10, 1946; he preceded her in death in 2005.

She is survived by four children, Larry Davis (Debbie Parris-Dennis) of East Bend, NC, Jeffrey Davis of Mattawan, MI, Kimberly Davis of Nashville, TN, and Mark (Kathy) Davis of Allegan, MI; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brothers Leonard (Carolyn) Brinks of South Haven, MI and Floyd (Phyllis) Brinks of Butler, PA; many nieces and nephews; her beloved cousin Alta June Michael of Tarpon Springs, FL; and dear friend Ruth Baty of Indianapolis, IN. Evelyn was preceded in death by her son Philip Lee Davis; four brothers Henry “Hank” Brinks, Clyde Brinks, Merle Brinks and James Brinks; and sister Fannie Brinks Porter.
