Evelyn Frances South, February 10, 1918 – December 13, 2010.

On Monday, December 13, 2010, Frances Campbell South passed into heaven after a brief illness. Frances was all ways a teacher, counselor, and consultant. She loved her husband and extended family and she loved life, but most important to her was the role of “Nother”. Frances never had children of her own, but she was loved by every young person that touched her life. Frances was born February 10, 1918 in Pottsboro, Texas to Benjamin Franklin Price and Ann Lee Rodgers Price.

She and her first husband, Clark were married from 1942 until his death in 1983. Frances graduated from Arlington Heights High School. She attended TCU working on a bachelor’s degree, continued at Trinity University with majors in English, Spanish, French, History, and Science. She received a Master’s Degree in English at Eastern New Mexico University and a Master’s Degree at TCU in guidance and counseling. She taught all grades levels from elementary to the college level.

She began her teaching career in Midlothian, then taught several years in Eunice, New Mexico. This was followed by teaching in Odessa, Levelland, then Lovington, New Mexico. She began teaching in Arlington ISD in 1959 and retired in 1978. Frances married Ernest Everett South of Midland, Michigan on February 18, 1986. They have lived in Indian Springs and Moffat since 1987.

Survivors include Husband: Ernest South, Godson: Lt. Col. Michael Cathey of Fort Hood, Texas, selected daughters: Dianne Ford and husband Bill of Grandbury, Lavonia Babb of Troy, six adult step-children: Cynthia Maxsom and husband James, Suzanna Taylor and husband Gordon, Jeff South, Rick South, Steve South, and Michael South; six step-grandchildren, six step-great grandchildren, and one step-great great granddaughter. Also surviving maternal cousin James Andrew Roger and wife Collene of Santa Fe Springs, Colorado and many co-workers, and friends – may they all be blessed as worthy survivors.
