Evelyn May Fogle
Evelyn May Fogle, daughter of Charles Dillard Vandell and Dora Elizabeth Casey, was born on April 4, 1917 in Wayne County, Iowa. She passed away at the age of 92, on February 15, 2010, at the Chariton Nursing and Rehab Center in Chariton Iowa.
Evelyn’s early years were spent in Wayne & Lucas counties and attending schools in Clio, Allerton and Corydon. She graduated from Norwood in 1935. After graduating, she attended Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa, where, for a short time, she taught in the rural area schools.
On September 7, 1940, Evelyn married Winfield Stanton Fogle in Plattsburg, Missouri. To this union, two children were born, Jerry Dean, Oct. 3 1942, and Allan Vern, Sept. 9 1947. Winfield farmed and did custom trucking, while Evelyn worked as a housewife, canned fresh vegetable from the garden and raised chickens.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, C.D. & Dora Vandell, husband; Winfield (Jack), brothers; Ralph (Ercell), Dale, Dwight, and Kenneth, sisters; Imogene (Le Roy) Harlen, Ruby (Wilford) Crooks, Marie Johnson, and Erma (Raymond) Leach.
She is survived by her son, Jerry (Susan) Fogle of Chariton, grandson; Mike (Kathy) Hopp of Cedar Rapids, IA, granddaughters; Brenda (Randy) Goodwin of State Center, IA, Marcy (Tim) German of State Center, IA and Molly (Michael) Gregory of Ozark, Alabama, great-grandchildren; Aaron, Gage, Seth, Tyler, Ashley, Christopher, Garrett, Alex, Cody, Aleah, and Margaret and great-great-grandson Jaxson.
Also her son Allan (Roberta) Fogle of Lucas, granddaughters; Lori Fogle of West Des Moines, IA and Sandi Fogle of Denver CO. and great-granddaughter; Mia Fogle.
Also her sister; Ruth Curtis of Chariton, brother; Bob (Vi) Vandell of Des Moines, sisters-in-law; Mary Vandell and Virginia Vandell of Humeston IA and brother-in-law; Boyce Johnson of Ankeny.
Family met with friends from 6-8 p.m.
