Evelyn A. Keenan, 94, of Jacksonville, died Friday, May 21, 2010, at Barton W. Stone Home in Jacksonville.

She was born Aug. 23, 1915, in Jacksonville, the daughter of Otto and Byrd Kelley Ferguson. She married William T. Keenan and he preceded her in death on May 1, 1974.

She is survived by one daughter and two sons, Barbara Jean (Vincent E.) Hermes of New Berlin, William T. (Judy) Keenan of Riverton and John P. (Vickie) Keenan of Jacksonville; eight grandchildren; and seventeen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Patricia Ann Seymour; one sister, Maxine Moore; and one brother, Jack Ferguson.

Mrs. Keenan and her husband owned and operated Keenan’s Grocery in Alexander. She had also worked at Kaiser & Cline Grocery and later Smith’s Grocery in Alexander. She then worked for Jim’s Big Value in Jacksonville. She was a member of Alexander Methodist Church and was the oldest surviving member of Alexander Woman’s Club, having been a member for over 50 years. Evelyn enjoyed playing bridge and doing crossword puzzles. She was especially devoted to her children and grandchildren.
