Evangeline G. Rodrigues

Bozrah – Evangeline (Gomes) Rodrigues, 91, of Fitchville Rd., died Wednesday evening, March 30, 2016, surrounded by her loving children. She was the loving wife of forty-six years to the late John B. Rodrigues. Born in Norwich, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Mary (Gonsalves) Gomes.
On July 26, 1943, at St. Patrick Cathedral she was united in marriage to John B. Rodrigues who died on May 19, 1989.
Mrs. Rodrigues worked for over twenty-five years as a nurses aide at the former Norwich State Hospital.
She was a member of the Santiago Society in Norwich and the Bozrah Seniors. She enjoyed snorkeling, scuba diving, traveling both nationally and internationally, gardening, swimming, dancing, music, cooking for her family and working around her house.
Evangeline is survived by a son Ricardo “Ricky” Rodrigues and his wife Lupe of Albuquerque, NM; three daughters Maria Rodrigues McBride of Wallingford and her companion Leo Butler, Evangeline “Evie” Rodrigues of Minneapolis, MN, and Linda Rodrigues of Norwich; a sister Ruth Cardoza of Norwich; nine grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three brothers George Gomes, Abel Perry, and Frank Perry, and two sisters Frances “Beebe” Marceline and Lydia Gonsalves.
