Evan Charles Klingenberg arrived on Oct. 19, 2015, and took the world by storm. From the very first day he made it his mission to spread love, laughter, and joy among all those lucky enough to know him. He was a ray of sunshine, a total trooper, and one handsome devil. He beat all the odds – by almost six years! – and did not move on to his next adventure until August 16, 2021.
Evan encountered many challenges during his life, but faced each one with inspiring courage and indomitable good cheer. Along the way Evan also accomplished – thanks to his loving and devoted parents – a long bucket list of amazing experiences. He rode a horse, flew on a plane, saw the ocean, watched fireworks, got a tattoo (temporary), sat in the backseat of a police car (by choice), stood under a waterfall, and had his picture on the cover of a magazine. And that’s just a very small sampling.
Menkes never, ever defined Evan. He was smart, funny, and affectionate. He was full of personality and strong opinions. He was a master of shenanigans, with the best smile and the best laugh you’ve ever seen. He loved his family, his dogs, his nurses, Playdoh playdates, Dinosaurs, his Disney Shows including Mickey Mouse and Little Einsteins, plus his favorite Rumble doll. He’ll be missed, but he’ll also always be here with us.
Evan joins the friends and family members who have passed on before him: his Grandma Kate (Klingenberg), and his fraternal great Grandparents, Oma (De) & Opa (Paul) Berney, his cousin Ryan Arnold, maternal great Grandparents Daddy Charlie (Arnold) and Grandmere Barbara (Arnold), Great Grandpa Louie (Principe) and his wife Nery, and all other greats that came before him.
Evan will always remain deep in the hearts of those who love him: his parents Sam & Lauren Klingenberg and favorite Little Brother, Ryan; grandparents: Momma D (Debbie) & Daddy Rick (Arnold), Papa Rick (Klingenberg) & Tutu (Julie Blankenship); his aunts and uncles: Catherine & Nate Zapotocky, Adam & Sarah Klingenberg, Jake & Kayla Klingenberg; as well as his cousins: Max Zapotocky, Ada Zapotocky, Davis Klingenberg, Carson Klingenberg, Andy Klingenberg; his great grandparents: Grandma Dot (Principe), Momma Kathy (Arnold), Papa Richard & Granny Joyce Klingenberg; extended great aunts & uncles: Lou & Christine Berney, Ellen Berney, Robin & Mykel McElwee, Cindy & Pat Torpey, Ron Arnold and Marcia Arnold; as well as numerous extended family and cousins. He was especially loved by his nurses Hannah Elliott, Nichole Bullard, and Erin Land and the sweetest joy of his life, Maeve Barrow.
