Eva V. Torres of Los Lunas died peacefully in her home on October 28, 2016 at 95 years of age. She had a strong faith in the Lord and the family is comforted knowing she is now at peace
Eva was born on May 26, 1921, in Santa Rita, NM to Petrita and Emilio Vizcaino. Mrs. Torres was preceded in death by her husband, Pete Torres; her parents; her sisters, Herlinda Velasquez and Cora Crnich; and her brother, Henry Vizcaino. Eva is survived by her nieces, Lillian Brown and Lucille Garcia; and by many great and great-great nieces and nephews.
Eva enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corp. in 1945 where she served as an air traffic controller and was honorably discharged after two years of service. She was an avid reader and possessed a great intellect. Her thirst for knowledge was unquenchable. Her will was strong; she was independent and self-reliant. Retirement years were spent in swimming lessons, dancing, and volunteering at the local senior center assisting with the preparation of tax returns.
A special thanks is given to Joseph Manso, her great-nephew, who was her caretaker for the last three years of her life. Also, many thanks to her VA Care Team and to Compassis Hospice.
