On Sunday, September 29, 2013, God called Eva Mae home from Decatur Morgan Hospital-Decatur General Campus. She was born to Kater and Dorine Allen Jones on January 4, 1945 in Lawrence County, Alabama. She confessed Christ at an early age and continued to be a faithful member of Mt. Zion M.B. Church (formely Lil Sams M.B. Church) for over 60 years. She later became a member of Shiloh M.B. Church under the leadership of the Reverend Edward Owens.
Ms. Jones who was affectionately known as “Big E” was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She retired from Wayne Farms as a line supervisor in 2011 with 42 years of dedicated service.
She was preceded in death by her father, Kater Jones Sr., mother, Dorine Allen Jones, and her sisters, JoAnn Lott and Joyce Ann Bolden-Carter.
She leaves to cherish her memory, one son, Michael Jones (Janice) of Decatur, one daughter, Vickie Henderson (Maurice)of Huntsville; four grandchildren, Jessica Henderson, Jamillah Heater (Clarence), Jerica Henderson, Chris Fuqua; four great-grandchildren, Jada Watkins, Jaden Watkins, Talyn Banks and Carson Heater ; six sisters, Delois Elliott (Tommy Sr.), Bobbie Cook, Linda Staples, Katie Smith (David), Brenda Jones, and Lisa Hawkins (Kenneth) all of Decatur, AL. Three brothers, Cater Jones Jr., Larry Jones, and Ronnie Jones (Felicia) all of Decatur and a host of nieces, nephews,cousins, extended family and friends.
