For years beyond a century our mom provided light and meaning to all around her. Coming from a loving but motherless family in a small, Utah farming community, she studied at Brigham Young College at Logan, Utah before joining her sister in Boise.

After a long and ardent courtship she married the love of her life, Joe R. Williams. Together they raised a large family. She lent her energy, enthusiasm and compassion to her husband’s political campaigns across Idaho. During his decades as State Auditor, she helped him represent our state at meetings and conferences across America. She provided tremendous support as he achieved leadership positions in national, professional, political and religious organizations.

A favorite among her many literary, social, religious, and political activities was her membership and leadership in the LegisLadies, an organization for wives of elected and legislative officials. She greatly appreciated their attention and transportation as they worked to include her in their activities throughout legislative sessions.

She loved her home, quilting and gardening.

Lauraine Williams leaves a legacy and an example that will live on through her extended family. We miss her and love her as we keep her in our hearts and minds. She was proud of her ancestry and heritage. Her posterity and hope make her just as proud through her legacy.

She is preceded in death by her husband and two sons, Gregory and Bruce. Survivors include her six remaining children, Roger of Boise, Linda (Walter) Root of Salt Lake City, Jolaine (Neal) Winkler of Council, ID Neil (Linda) of Idaho Falls, Milt (Kim) of Boise, and Kristin (Allen) King of Idaho Falls; and numerous grand, great grand, and great-great grandchildren.
