Euklin Marion Jones, 82, of Brooklyn, New York, passed away on Saturday, April 18, 2020 in her home. Born on March 22, 1938 in Retrieve, St. James, Jamaica, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Rosetta Jones nee Duhaney. From an early age, her parents instilled the importance of a strong prayer life beginning with early morning devotion which she continued throughout her life. She is a proud graduate of Pace University, NY, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Business and was employed for many years by Chase Manhattan Bank, New York. In later years, she worked as an auditor. After retirement, Aunt Marion continued her community service with Greenwood Baptist Church in Brooklyn, Calvary Baptist Church in Manhattan, and various other organizations.
“Aunt Marion”, “Princess Mar” or “Myra”, as she was affectionately called, thoroughly enjoyed world travel, fabulous hats and regal attire. Visiting the beach was a favorite pastime, as was her love for classical music and the Metropolitan Opera. She regarded each meal as fine dining, as reflected in the daily use of the finest utensils and the choice of exotic menus. She loved being a tour guide on ferry and bus rides for relatives and friends visiting the landmarks of New York. She was active and spirited, participating in various exercise groups and was often out and about across New York City. She lived a full life, a good life, a long life, and she did it her way. “Shalom!” as she would say.
Survivors: She is survived by an older sister, Iris May Clennon nee Jones, of Kingston, Jamaica, and lovingly remembered by a host of nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by nine of her ten siblings—Wilfred Jones, T. Matilda Harris, Samuel Jones, Elijah Jones, Vilma Jones, Sidney Percival Jones, Lillian Jones, Albert Jones, and Nevil Jones.
