Eugenia (Jean) Nicolas, 91, formerly of 1897 Shepard Ave., Hamden, passed away Feb. 11, 2007 in St. Raphael’s Hospital. She was the widow of James Nicolas. Mrs. Nicolas was born in New York City July 20, 1915. She was a graduate of the Greek American Institute and made several broadcasts to Greece during World War II via The Voice of America. She also conducted a weekly Greek radio program until 1955, when she and her family moved to Connecticut. In 1965, she and her husband purchased The Sanford Barn in Hamden and operated it until their retirement in 1973.
