Eugenia L. “Genie” (Kasprowicz) Potthoff, 92, of Peru, passed away Monday, April 24, 2017 at Illinois Valley Community Hospital in Peru. Mrs. Potthoff was born January 16, 1925 in LaSalle to Edward and Florence (Swietek) Kasprowicz. She was a 1942 graduate of LaSalle-Peru High School.
She married Earl “E.J.” Potthoff on September 24, 1949 in LaSalle. Mrs. Potthoff was a member of St. Joseph’s Church in Peru and the Harmonaires singing group for many years. She worked for Open Court Publishing Company for 15 years, retiring in 1982. She worked as secretary for Peru Mayor, Donald Baker.Survivors include three children, Troy (Christine) Potthoff of Homewood, Drew (Marsha) Potthoff of Woodstock and Karl (Susan) Potthoff of Chicago; 6 grandchildren, Lauren Potthoff, Leesa Haeffner, Jake Potthoff, Abbey Johnson, Ian Potthoff and Max Potthoff. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, E.J. on June 17, 1964; one grandson, Stephan Potthoff; and one sister, Mary Anne Brookhouse.
