Eugene Thomas Busch passed away June 27, 2013 at the age of 80. He was born to Harold E. and Mary Louise (Garrett) Busch on February 22, 1933 in Columbus, Ohio. Eugene never knew a stranger. He spoke with most anyone who came across his path and became friends with many. He was an entrepreneur his whole life. His businesses included a Taste Freeze in Breman, Ohio, the Yamaha shop in Canon City, a print shop and a restaurant (The Homestead Caf&egrave) in Poncha Springs. Gene and Marlys were currently living in Saguache, CO. Eugene came to Colorado as a young man in the army, stationed at Fort Carson. He met and married his life-long partner during that part of his life. Marlys M. McDowell became his bride on April 3, 1955. She survives him, as does his daughter, Mecque (Bart) Nesmith of Canon City; Mecque’s children, Casey (Kate Benedick) Southern, Corey (Brandy) Southern, Jacob (Patryce) Southern, and the newest great grandchild, Kaden Southern. Gary Busch, Gene’s brother, preceded him in death, as did his son, Thomas Busch. Also surviving are Thom’s children, Brian (Keli) Busch (their children, Shayla, Alexis, and Lacie), Bradley Busch, and Colin Busch. Eugene is also survived by his daughter-in-law, Lanelle Busch; his special nephews, Kevin (Michelle) Busch and Keith (Stephanie) Busch; and sisters-in-law, Jean (Dale) Roberts and Becky McDowell. Other special friends who survive him are Larry and Barb Thacker, Fred and Faith Sherlock, and Jim Boaz. Eugene will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. He saddled up his bike and rode off into eternity.
