Gene F. Sutton, formerly of Milford, CT, beloved husband of Judy, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, October 8, 2022. Born on April 7th in Mount Vernon, NY he was the son of the late Francis and Marion Sutton.
While Gene was raised in Mount Vernon, NY he spent his summers in Cedar Beach, Milford, CT where he started his lifelong passion with sailing. Gene began his career in sail making in 1967 with Ulmer Sails and continued his love of sail making by opening Sutton Sail Repair located in Milford for over 35 years. He stayed in Milford until 2017 when he and Judy moved to Surfside Beach, SC. Gene’s happiest times were with his family, sailing or just lounging around the beach reading a good book and enjoying the scenery.
Gene is survived by his wife Judy, children Elizabeth Lyon, her husband Josh and grandchildren Lucas and June, Rebecca Simone and her grandchildren Jackson and Lennox and son Jonathan Sutton. He is survived by his brother Ken Sutton and wife Susan. He is also survived by his stepchildren Darren Frith, Danielle Frith and Damien Frith. He is also survived by his beloved Toby his four-legged greyhound.
