Eugene (Gene) Robbins was taken home to be with his loved ones on December 5, 2017.
Gene was born in Springfield, MA on February 17, 1934 to the late Max and Betty Robbins. He graduated from AIC and attended Tufts Medical school. Gene was a star athlete in track and enjoyed a wide variety of sports.
Gene started his career as an Insurance Agent, he won many awards and enjoyed working with people. That position lead to a second career as a Pharmaceutical Rep where again, he could utilize his people skills and his natural sales ability. Gene then purchased the family Pest Control Business which he excelled at until his retirement.
The UCONN woman Huskies were Gene’s team to watch. He proudly wore his Husky clothing and a great moment was when he got to meet the Coach. During Football season, Gene could be found yelling and cheering on his team, the New England Patriots. Prior to the game, Gene made sure he had all his fan gear ready.
Gene (AKA his sports name Richard or Dick Robbins) continued to stay active well into his retirement. He could frequently be found on the golf course or in the bowling alley, where he was in numerous leagues. The love of music and the ability to play a variety of instruments such as the sax, trumpet and clarinet allowed the smooth sound of Jazz to fill the house.
An avid traveler, Gene loved vacations and his travels took him far from home. He took courses in Photography and spent many hours poring over his photos for that perfect shot.
Gene was a kind, loving father and husband who truly was a treasure to his beloved wife and soulmate Micki and his much-loved sons Mark, Greg, Mike and “daughter” Sher and seven grandchildren. Gene was predeceased and is now reunited with his parents, brothers Allen, Norman, David and his son Jeff.
