Eugene Newton “Gene†Touchstone, 65, of 1502 Meadowview Lane, Martinsville, VA died Saturday, February 20, 2010 at his home. Born October 20, 1944 in Knoxville, TN, Gene was a son of the late William Newton Touchstone and Winifred Whitten Touchstone. Gene was retired from the Memorial Hospital of Martinsville and Henry County as a pharmacist for the past 31 years. He graduated in 1963 from George Washington High School in Danville from Virginia Military Institute in Lexington, VA in 1967 then entered the United State Army as a First Lieutenant. He then graduated from MCV School of Pharmacy in 1974. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Martinsville where he was a member of the Men’s Brotherhood. He was a member of the Men’s Golf Association of Forest Park Country Club and a member of the Keydet Club at VMI. Surviving is his wife, Deborah Holley Touchstone of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Wendy Touchstone Schilbe and husband Joe Schilbe of Richmond; a son and daughter-in-law, Steven E. Touchstone and wife Meredith Touchstone of Richmond; a brother, Edward Touchstone of Winchester; four grandchildren, Sam Schilbe, Davis Schilbe, Will Touchstone and Berkeley Touchstone and by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Howard and Irene Holley of Danville.
