Mr. Eugene Goodman, affectionately known as “Kool luk”, was born July 7, 1934 and transitioned from life to eternal rest on Monday, October 31, 2011.
He was the son of Olin Goodman, Jr. and Lugenia Earl Goodman, both deceased. A native of Newberry County, South Carolina, Mr. Goodman lived in Thomasville for more than 60 years. In 1960, he was joined in holy matrimony to his wife, the former Barbara Turner. A self-employed carpenter, he was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church. In addition to an intense love for his family, Gene’s passions in life included carpentry and serving others. He often expressed a particular fondness for his dog, Blanket. He thoroughly enjoyed life and lived it to the fullest.
In addition to his parents, Gene was preceded in death by three brothers and a sister.
He leaves to celebrate many precious memories, his wife, Mrs. Barbara Goodman of the home; two sons, Marc Goodman (Sarah) of Thomasville and Carlos Goodman (Jackie) of Winston-Salem; two daughters, Demeita Goodman-Logan (Tony) of Thomasville and Mary Reid of Jamaica-Queens, NY; two brothers, Donald and Robert Goodman, both of South Carolina; two sisters, Mary Agnes Caldwell (Moses) of Thomasville and Laura Lane (Kenny) of South Carolina; eight grandchildren, Avery Fitzgerald of Lexington, Shun Goodman (Tia) , Katrina Goodman, Monte Samuels, Carlos Goodman, Jr. and Antonio Logan, all of Thomasville, Quincy Steele of Raleigh, and Shelsea Goodman of Winston-Salem; three great-grandchildren, and a host of other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
